It’s 2008!?!! Where did the time go?!?!? I pulled down our site for a bit because I’ve been making some transitions this year, but I’m back and have so much to share!! I also started a classroom blog this year and have been busy keeping up with that. I had done some research on blogging in the classroom and put it into practice - the response, as you’d imagine, was overwhelming - I put the link to the blog under my favorite places if you want to check it out. The blog stemmed from my seventh grade language arts classroom, but so many of my other students check it out and add something of their own. I spent the last seven and a half school years teaching seventh and eighth grade language arts & literacy, but made a big and welcomed change just this year. Since I left my little ones in Allendale, I changed the blog from ‘Mrs. Auriemma’s Language Arts Blog Log’ page to ‘Our Niche.’ I think it’s awesome that it remains a place where kids can express themselves and I can keep in touch with all of them - although, at times, it’s hard to keep up with!! And it doesn’t help that I’ve recently discovered facebook!! I am sooo excited to hear from some of the amazing and special people from my past and to see the beautiful little people they created and their families!!!!! All I have to say is: so many babies!!!!!!!! It’s awesome!! I have to get busy!!!! Or would be happy to claim one of yours! The near one thousand ankle-biters I have taught have definitely kept my hands full!! My first group of kids are about twenty, twenty-one years old and have been infiltrating facebook, and I’m sure the bars!!!! Is there any way to escape the madness?? Years fly by (probably the most common cliche, but it’s the truth!!).
Well, welcome back!!! It’s good to reconnect with the world and finally get back to some normalcy in my life. If you can call it that!!

We have been outside so much these past few weeks and it’s been the best! I’m almost done with my flower beds - just have to get mulch! My tulips, hyacinths, hosta, narcissus, scotch broom, and pansies have already bloomed and the irises, hydrangea, peonies, daises, echineaca, clematis, lillies, and herbs are on their way! The dogs have been playing so much, they just love it! We’re also trying to seed our backyard - and that’s slowly coming along too!
Happy Mother’s Day!!

Mya, Harley, and Norton love the sun! And cookies too!

How nice has it been to finally roll down your car windows, sit outside, and watch the flower buds peak out??
Spring is the best!
a fresh start when nature awakes from its chilly hibernation
to greet longer days and constant changing
that continues to flourish into a summer of fun, free, long days,
bright blooms and the sun’s shimmering warm rays,
reminding us of nostalgic childhood days
when we sat right at the edge of the beach and ocean waves,
which tickled our toes and splashed our face,
until autumn’s gentle embrace
of its crispy breeze, sweeping rich, colorful falling leaves,
that crunch under our feet,
and weekends of hayrides, pumpkins, and picking from apple trees
finally begin to go back to sleep.
Wishing you all a warm and wonderful spring!

The Henderson Family looks so happy and healthy - they are in love, and, can you blame them?? My little sweet pea niece stole my heart the second I saw her!! At sixteen hours old, she was alert, squeezing fingers, smiling, hiccuping, and hanging out - she even asked if we could ditch the maternity ward to go shopping!!! Watch out, she’s a heartbreaker!

Happy Thanksgiving!!
2006 has flown right by, just like all of the leaves and acorns!! I think we have had seventeen-billion acorns fall from the trees and even more beautiful leaves! We’re almost ready to settle down for a bit and hibernate through the winter months, which will be nice! Greg, Doug, Nick, and Frank have been working on the house everyday. It’s exhausting, especially for me, since I have to shop and decorate our new home, it’s just torture!! It’s been a blast! I love the colors and the fact that everything is starting to flow together throughout the house - yay, it looks great! Today, they finished the deck, which is so sweet - it has two levels, forty-five degree angles, and ducktail steps - I just love it!! My little brother started Grayson Construction two years ago and does such awesome work!! I’m so lucky!! Greg and Frank enclosed most of the breezeway, which since has become the most popular room in the house! I reshaped the front flower beds, planted trees, perennials, and bulbs and was almost airborn after ten-plus hours with the back-pack leaf blower!! We had a retaining wall done and fence, so the girls have been happy (and quite independent) for the past week or so - we’re in heaven!! They can go out by themselves and prowl around for a while, which drains their energy, so they sleep more - which is always good!
Our house is coming along, it’s getting quite comfortable and cozy… it’s hard to get out of bed most days… ahhhh!! I can’t believe the holidays are right around the corner! Good thing I’ve gotten a decent amount of Christmas shopping done over the past few weekends! And it oddly seems as though it wasn’t such a chore this year!

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas & a Happy and Healthy New Year!!
xoxo, Greg, Ashley, & Mya and Harley (the brown-nosed reindogs)

A week after we returned home, we again had the time of our lives celebrating with our friends and family, at our reception on Friday night!! It was too much fun! Between seeing everyone we love, dancing around, and taking wedding pictures, Greg and I enjoyed every single minute!!! Friday was a little crazy - and I learned that no matter how organized you can be, you can never plan for the unexpected.
I couldn’t have been luckier to have Richie’s girlfriend, Jen, do my hair for me - it looked absolutely stunning, I loved it!! The morning passed quickly and we were throwing stuff in bags at one so we could be at the Marriott around 2:30. I went ahead with Danielle and Chris to the Marriott where the girls were getting done up. Then, Greg called from home to break the news: he couldn’t find the wedding ceremony DVD that we were planning on playing at the reception on a projection screen. It couldn’t be!! I was crushed! That was probably one of the most significant details of the evening - Greg and I wanted to be able to share our ceremony and Hawaii memories with our guests… and the DVD was missing!!
I was back in the car - determined to find it. At the house, Greg, Richie, Jen, Frank, and Doug had exhausted all of the possibilities of finding it… we thought. I was searching room by room. Greg was hopelessly looking in rooms he had already sorted through three times. Doug was humoring me by flipping through all of our DVD movies, just in case in would pop up. He was also reassuring me that everything would work out. Richie and Jen continued to look, Frank was up and down the stairs, and we even made phone calls to retrace our steps… It was 3:50 and I knew I had to run back to the hotel to get my make-up done. I was sweaty and panicking, overwhelmed, frustrated, and upset with myself. I looked at Greg and told him that my heart was broken… dramatic, I know…
He swept around the house one last time as I was about to give up hope and get over it. It was hard to swallow as I pulled open the same drawers in disbelief… that’s when Greg called from downstairs.
HE FOUND IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YIPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And I was back in the car with the ceremony DVD in hand at 3:53, just in time to make it back to get my make-up done and throw my dress on before 5:15!!
From that point, the night was insane…

Can you believe it?!?!? The past two months have FLOWN by… we’re MARRIED and we’re in our NEW house!!! That’s just crazy!!!! It’s been an awesome ride!!
Our Kauai wedding was an absolute dream-come-true… it couldn’t have been more beautiful! Greg and I awoke to the waves and South Shore sunshine before enjoying a delicious breakfast sprinkled with macadamia nuts beside eht lagoon, where black and white swans swam under a waterfall and plenty of hungry birds flew around for a visit. Without a care in the world, we took a walk on the beach and went swimming on Shipwreck beach, where later that day, we would be getting married. The skies were bright blue and Lanai and Molokai islands richly stood-out against the seamless horizon. Endless palm trees swayed above the sands, reaching out to the sea, while beachcombers and sun worshippers were scattered about, burying their feet into the warm, white sand, as all worries were washed away with the foamy waves, followed by those cute, little crabs who poked their heads from the wet, placid sand only to scurry back into their holes as the clear water crashed once again.
But later, back in our ocean view room, fit for a king and his mermaid, we kissed goodbye and the crazy, and somehow relaxed, preparation began. While I had my hair and face done up by a local stylist, Greg was getting ready as he hung out with his mom, Frank, my dad, and Anne. My mom was with me and helped me get dressed before dad joined us for a few, quick shots, of liquor - (hee, hee… photos, of course!). The rest of the crew, along with the pink tube, met up with mom and walked down the pristine beach to the ceremony site, where my wedding planners were waiting and the guitarist was strumming in the shade.
The walk through the tropical hotel grounds, along the paths that overflowed with bright flowers and poolside excitement, hand in hand with my day was so special. When the lightest of rain misted our faces, I wasn’t the slightest bit concerned… jot a care in the world… even if we were married in the rain, we had already made it - we were in Kauai! Just as dad and I stepped onto Shipwreck Beach, the skies cleared slowly and magically as they were replaced by amazing rays of bright sun.
We walked behind some indigenous trees and bushes onto a sandy path from which I could see my groom with everyone standing beside him, near the water. The guitar sang softly, the waves crashed with joy, and my heart and eyes filled up as dad and I walked down the beach, where he gave me away, to my new husband. A unique and spiritual Hawaiian ceremony and rituals were followed by tossing plams into the vast ocean and sipping champagne in celebration. The rest of our wedding night was just as amazing, it was truly a dream-come-true!

Thou art the star that guides me
Along life’s changing sea;
And whatever fate betides me,
This heart still turns to thee. -George P. Morris
So many things going on, and so little time!! Didn’t think I’d be saying that a year ago!! It’s amazing how many details have to be taken care of at this crucial time, a month or two before the big plans! Ahhhhhh!! In 46 days, we will be Mr. & Mrs.!!!
Click the PHOTO link above to check out a ton of pictures of family, friends, dogs, and good times that Greg and I have shared over the past six years! You are sure to get a good laugh!!

My sister and bridesmaids threw me the BEST bridal shower ever - Hawaiian style!! I can’t belive they got me - I was so surprised, I was speechless and overwhelmed, and thrilled!! It was soooo great to see so many of the women in my life who have known me, inspired me, encouraged and supported me, and guided me throughout the years. WOW! The joy of that day will always be a part of me!! As you’ll see in the pictures, the girls went over the top! It was like we were on a stranded island, away from it all!! A moment to savour forever. My bridesmaids are all like sisters to me, which is the best gift of all!! Mahalo to all who came to share in my special day, it truly meant the world to me!!

The next couple of months are going to be so much fun, so many things we’ve only dreamed of will become magical memories that we’ll remembver forever! We’re working on getting our website ready - my brother, Rob aka the infamous and talented John Grayson, is helping us out soooo much, he’s been such a BIG help!! He is a graphic designer and is putting all of the information I gave him together for us on our web site… so cool!! If you click on his name on the bottom of our site, you can also check out some of his art work and photography.
Well, most of the big plans have been made… we will be getting married in Kauai, Hawaii on Sunday, July 16, 2006!!! We can NOT wait!! This is something that Greg and I have only dreamed of, and we can’t believe that it’s coming true! We’ve made arrangements with a Kauai wedding coordinator and have booked our trip for next July! We are also so psyched about our NJ vendors who will be at our reception, at The Manor. Their work is awesome! We also had the very cool experience of registering - that little zapper was so much fun! Unfortunately, I’m back to school, which is already insane, and I have to put my job as a wedding coordinator on the back burner. It’s good to know that we have a lot out of the way and are on schedule. Enjoy the last day of summer, and the crispy, cool autumn ahead!

I took advantage of a great sale at my bridal shop, Affordable Elegance, today and got some great things! Fun, fun! I asked my mom to come with me last minute, and I’m really glad she came. First, I tried on different veils. I thought I liked one length until I tried another on, thanks to mom. I would’ve bought the other and ran… seems to be my mode sometimes! We found the perfect match for my body frame and also got to see all of the different embellishments. The rest will have to be a surprise! I also found an excellent headpiece/tiara… and again, it’s funny how you don’t really know until you try it on. And it’s funny how when it’s the right one, you just know… like a fiance! And, we’re thinking no necklace… hmm, not like me, but I think it will look just right that way. So, that was definitely fun, seeing myself in a veil, it’s very surreal. Yay, I’m psyched! My dress will be in sometime in August and that’s when I will get to see everything together - very exciting! Another accomplishing wedding planning day, and we’re almost down to a year! I love that I get to take advantage of great sales and prices, since we’ve been engaged forever (and it only feels like a month)! I love “being engaged” and having a “fiance,” and I love taking my time and obssessing! I’m really happy about our decisions.
Ha, ha! My gorgeous dress - pre-alterations… just being silly and over-stuffed!!

Have to run to class- I am pursuing another degree, in Counseling. Have a fabulous Fourth of July weekend!

School’s out for the summer!! Yipee!! Now that I have those little rats out of my hair, I can really get some things accomplished! I really have to get my butt in gear with Hawaii specifics… I’d like to have everything set at about the year mark, so I still have a few weeks!! I can’t even believe that… Greg and I have been engaged for sixteen months already- that’s just so crazy, because it only feels like it’s been six, maybe. Time does fly! And, be careful how you use it, because you don’t get it back. I heard that bit of advice this week and thought I’d pass it along, because it is sooo true! Greg is working with dad and Doug today, which I think is pretty cool. I love that Greg gets along so well with everyone in my family. He’s become like a brother to my siblings and is close with my mom and dad too, I couldn’t be luckier! He really is such an amazing person… I am so lucky! So, as he works, I’ll sit home and shop on-line
funny isn’t it? Well, I’ll be cleaning and getting things done and… might shop around for some bridesmaids’ stuff. Hey, I bust my ass too! I have some great and unique ideas, and it’s something I can get a move on anyway and it’s fun. Check that off the list. I also have to get together with Rob and get some links on the website, I know it isn’t very exciting right now - which is why I’m writing, to entertain you!! Hey, but it’s something… love my web site!! I hope you’re all savoring this beautiful weather! Isn’t it great? I hope it’s this nice when Greg and I go down to LBI to visit his mom and Frank next weekend, for 4th of July. Summer rocks! I’ll leave you with a bridal party update… Heather, my sis, has been busting her ass sanding, painting, and more sanding, as she renovates her new home, which she’ll hopefully move into soon. Rob and Jody are on the summer wedding circuit and Doug and Danielle just got a fishing boat. Richie just celebrated his 35th birthday last weekend, we went to Blend and had an awesome time! We saw Alyson and Chris last night at Nick’s high school graduation party at Aunt Joyce’s new home (so cute) in Wharton. Alyson and I have to get together soon. Brian is moving to Florida and Tommie is coming up to visit from Florida later this month. Bobby is juggling his wife and cutie kids, who are a handful and a blast! Lou is working, doing karaoke some nights, and biking in his free time. So, needless to say, it will be an exciting summer!! Enjoy! Have a drink and take it all in!

Hey There! I just e-mailed nine wedding coordinators in Hawaii for price quotes on the package that Greg and I are interested in. Now we play the “waiting game” again and collect e-mails as they pop-up before we can compare any. I want to lock into something soon so we have a better idea of the details. Since we’re thinking about moving the Hawaii date up a bit, I’m thinking about July 16, a Sunday. I just don’t like the vibe of July 15, Saturday… is it just me? 16 makes me happier! It’s such craziness! Literally. We also met with a prospective DJ again last week and met the emcee. He’s a cool guy named Anthony, but we’re still going to look around. My girls and I have come up with some really great centerpiece ideas - they’re creative, classy, and romantic! Having fun, OCD Ash

Hey everybody!! Over the past few weeks, Greg and I have been meeting with New Jersey vendors and trying to finalize our ceremony plans in the islands. We were pretty set with the Marriott Frenchman’s reef in St. Thomas, but weren’t too happy when it came down to the wire. They really weren’t being too accomodating and the idea of the island ceremony and party actually became pretty big… which isn’t what Greg and I really wanted at all.
We had always envisioned ourselves far away, in paradise, on a beautiful beach, with almost no one around. A low-key, quiet, relaxing, romantic escape where we can simply savor our love and start our new life together. Our plans in the Caribbean became frenzied, which made us really think about what we wanted, and together, we decided to go with our original dream… to get married in Hawaii.
So, we’ve switched gears and have been researching Kauai, the Garden Isle, where we plan to marry in July 2006. The Hyatt Regency has beautiful grounds, including a lagoon and waterfall, which is where we’re thinking about staying. We’ll stay there for six days and then jump to Maui for seven or eight. We are blessed to have some immediate family members joining us to witness the special occassion. I think we might bump the ceremony up to July 15. The Manor in New Jeresy is definite, on Friday, August 4, 2006, and that would give us a week’s rest before the big celebration!!!!
Yay!! It’s going to be sooo much fun! We booked our photographer and videographer and absolutely LOVE their work! They’re from Celebration Studios in Saddle Brook and shoot photojournalistic, traditional, and candid. Check out their web site, at: www.celebrationstudios.com, if you’re interested. We’ve also met with a great DJ and are getting psyched about the party, and dancing, and having the time of our lives!! It is going to be a blast!! We can’t wait!! And we can’t wait, most of all, to celebrate with you!!
We’ve also asked our bridal party for the honor of having them in our wedding and sharing in everything! Wedding planning has become my part-time (ok, other full-time, I am obssessive, I know) job! I have to say, I am having fun! It’s been nice to take our time to make good decisions and enjoy everything. We appreciate all of the love and support from all of our family and friends.
We hope that everyone is doing well and that you’re enjoying life! We also hope that you’re as busy and crazy as us… in a good way! That’s life, isn’t it? Enjoy it! Best of everything! We love you! xoxo

Greg and I are getting very excited about our summer 2006 wedding. Since time has been on our side, we have been able to consume ourselves in all of the little details. So far, we have booked The Manor (one of our favorite, beautiful places) as our New Jersey reception for Friday night, August 4, 2006. Our wedding color is a watermelon pink and would you believe that I have already ordered my dress?! I’m obviously so excited!! And neurotic! Heather is scouring photographers in the area and Danielle is compiling a song play list for the parties. I guess we have to finalize our photographer and DJ within the next couple of months. It’s crazy!! Everyone says how much there is to do when planning a wedding, but I really had no idea until I was the one making the plans. We are so very lucky, because of all of our wedding wishes, having the opportunity to celebrate with our dear family and friends, has already come true!! It’s going to be soo much fun!!! Get ready for the good times!!!! We can’t wait!!!!!!
